Whether you are picking up a pencil for the first time or returning to a creative practice after years away, Drawing Foundations is designed to help you build confidence, strengthen your observation skills, and discover the joy of drawing.

In this 6-week course, students will explore the fundamental elements of drawing through guided exercises, demonstrations, and creative projects. We will learn how artists see and translate the world around them by exploring line, shape, value, texture, space, and composition.

Through a supportive and encouraging studio environment, you will develop essential drawing skills while discovering your own unique artistic voice. This course is designed for beginners and intermediate artists alike—no previous experience is required, only curiosity and a willingness to create.

Throughout the 6 Weeks, You Will Explore:

Discover how lines can express movement, emotion, and energy through contour drawing, gesture studies, and expressive mark-making.

Learn to see the world as an arrangement of shapes while exploring positive and negative space, proportion, and composition.

Understand light and shadow through shading techniques, value studies, and creating the illusion of three-dimensional form.

Develop your ability to notice and recreate the unique qualities of natural and everyday objects through detailed studies.
